timeing is mesed up

i have a womework board and the timeing is slow by about 1/2 so if i wanted a led to stay on for 1 sec it would stay on for about 0.5 sec. freqout and stuff like that are allso mesed up. is there eny thing i can do other than ajusting my the timing on the program to make up for the problem.
