12 VDC okay for Board of Education and BS2?

I just want to make sure before I hook it up that I can·safely use my 12 VDC, 1000ma·adapter to power the Board of Education and BS2.

The online chart shows 12VDC as okay but the literature that came in my Discover Kit says to use a 6 VDC adapter. The board itself is labelled 6-9v.

    I got the power supply from Radio Shack for a previous project. I can connect it with center positive to the Board of Education. I just want to make sure 12VDC is okay. Sounds like it is.

    Do you have a way check the voltage coming out of the connector?
