I've never seen a cnc like that before.

    I forget if it was Giggings and Lewis or Kearny and Trekker in Wisconsin (the merged at one point, and I don't know if they exist at all anymore) may this type of machine back a while ago, but on a MUCH larger scale. Like the thing could machine a 1:1 scale SUV body. The model(s) they had moved the cutting head, not the object to be machined. They were for an aerospace contract, macining large structures.

    For larger parts, the structure proved more rigid than an conventional XYZ gantry or table.

    They are neat to watch in action.

    Seems to me I saw an article on building one of these in a recent magazine.
