I am looking to find out what the connector on a computer Hard drive, or opti-drive is called. the connector that I need is just the power connector (5V,12V).

I hope you can understand what I am looking for. I have spent meny hours on digi-key's site with no luck yet.

Thanks
TC

OK after a lot of looking on Jameco site, there is nothing else I want. And I am not going to buy 10·connectors just to use one. does anyone know what the connector is·called? or maybe a part number?

    Thanks

This connecter is typically called a Molex 4 pin power drive connector. If you're in a hurry for one of these - I've been known to pick-up one of these power extension cables at Radio Shack for $3.49. Search for Radio Shack part number 278-767

    TC -

You may want to start to familiarize yourself with some of the various surplus houses. Many have low or no order minimums. Here is a "Y" version of the Molex power connectors you want for $ 1.95 US:

    http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=7207+CB

Although they don't seem to have that particular Molex connector at the moment, here is another place from whom I often order small parts and the like:

    http://www.allelectronics.com/

These folks above have all sorts of R/C servo cables, in straight and "Y" configurations.

As always there are shipping charges to consider, so you still may want to order just a boi more than just that connector. LED's are light in weight·and can often be used to pad out an order.

I need to order from digi-key because I have a $60 order waiting for the connector. Also I am looking for the connector that is on a PCB ( not with wires ). I have went on both Molex, and Amp/Tyco's sites, and searched for 4 pin connector, HDD connector, hard disk connector, 4 pin power connector, many other. with no luck.

    Thanks
