midi output to a Yamaha YPP 45 Keyboard

When I look at the output from the basic stamp before I plug it into the YPP 45 it is 0 to 5v peeak to peak.· The serial data looks good also.· However when I plug it into the YPP 45 the the voltage is now 3 to 5V peak to peak.

Any thoughts?

1) Are you connecting directly from a Basic Stamp Output ? Consider a preamp.

2) Using FREQOUT ?

3) Decoupled ? - possible ground loop issues.

That is where I started and am using the HW schematic from this page:

Although the page you sent me suggests swapping midi connector pins 4 and 5 just in case.

What the heck, its worth a try.
