I am also going to create an autonomous boat that it will going on the sea using GPS navigation. I also want my boat to give me back using RF transmission the Depth of the sea in specific points that I will have "tell" it.

I need your help, so I can make an Echo Sounder that I ll attach it in the BS2 parallax micro controller.
I don't know what to use, but i would like to help me.
I want to have the Depth of the sea until 35 meters! I could also use a sonar, but how...

I would be grateful if you help mefreaked.gif

    nayagos -

What you need is a depth finder with an RS-232 output. Don't try making one, as you couldn't come close to the cost of a manufactured unit.

Since you already want GPS functions, many units made for the marine market can also read a depth sounder and incorporate that data right into the GPS string.

I agree with Bruce, this is one time the factory built unit will be worth its cost!

I've used units made by Lowrance which have all these features and an LCD screen as well.

    Cheers
