Interfacing with existing laser / distance finders

Hello All!
···· I would like to find a laser range/distance finder·accurate between 5m -125m·that I would be able to interface to a BASIC 2 chip to input the distance into part of my programming. Does anyone know of anything that i could do that with? And if there isn't anything currently out there. Does anyone know a simple way to build one? I've done some research on the internet, but most of the distance finders for Robotics application only measure to a maxium of ~300cm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
