Thanks and hello to all
The COM port (pin 16)·on the BOE is consider a·DCE or DTE?
I would like to connect a GSM Modem (Multitech) to it,·can I use the cable that came with the modem
or do I have to make one, does any of you could tell me the pin out for this cable
or any other modem since they all are the same
thanks again

you'll need a 'null-modem' cable to connect them together, as both are the same, whatever they are...

Don't visit my new website...
DCE == Data Communication Equipment -- like a Modem, or a BOE.
You connect DTE to DCE using a 'straight-through' cable. Pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc.
You connect DTE to DTE with a 'null-modem' cable.
And you connect DCE to DCE with a 'null-modem' cable. If you're connecting the 'progamming port' to a modem, probably all you need is Pin 2 to Pin 3, Pin 3 to Pin 2, pin 5 to pin 5. Turn off 'hardware handshake', as the BS2 programming port doesn't implement the DTE signals.
they all are DCE as allanlane5 said now it is working and null cable did the job ok.
thanks again
