I want to know on what is the ideal current of the power supply for the BOE and also the maximum and same goes with the BS2IC

I want also 2 know if Parallax offer warranties for these items mentioned. I just bought Discovery Kit,Im from the Philippines and I spent a heck of my stash already.I want my investment secure.

    Dear Crux,

5-15V input on the BOE and BASIC Stamp is fine. Of course we warranty our products, even from the Phillipines. To make it easier we have a good distributor in the Phillipines, too.

The BS2 needs about 5 mA for it to work. The BOE has a prototyping area, and you may want to control a servo at some point. The 'best' supply I've used is 6 volts DC at 900 mA. Putting a supply on that will give you more than 1000 mA would be overkill.

You can get 6 or 7.2 volt supplies at 300 mA -- but if you try to use a servo, you may exceed that 300 mA.

So if we plug a 1000mA power supply will it wreck the BOE?

Also about the warranty, how long is it?

    Crux,
Remember, Voltage is the "pushed" thing and is important from a power supply as far as "blowing things up". Current is a "pulled" thing...your circuit determines how much it needs and you power supply will need to supply that much. In short, your power supply cannot "force" current into your project, so the amp rating on your supply doesn't come into play....unless it's too small...

Just make sure that the voltage is within spec and your polarity is correct and you should be OK...

    Crux,

For you, I'll make it "forever" for your first BS2/BOE. Just save this e-mail.

The key consideration is to simply get started with your BASIC Stamp. Everything will fall into place once you're underway and blowing up your module will become a worry of the past. Use our books to get started and you should be safe.
