Parallax Motion/PIR sensor question

Hello Everybody,

I just have a question about the effectiveness of Parallax's Motion/PIR sensor listed here:
http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=555-28027

My question is how effective is this sensor in picking up the heat coming from a person? For example, if i were to walk in a room and the sensor was located about 5 feet from me, how long would it take the sensor to detect the heat coming from my body, 5 seconds, 10 seconds? I'm building a security system so I need a motion sensor that can sense motion/heat quickly(about 1-5 seconds after someone breaks into a room).

    Hello,
    ·
·· You entering the room would cause an immediate change in the IR pattern in the field of view of the PIR sensor and would immediately register as a HIGH output from the device.· I hope this helps.· Take care.
