After several years of promised publication, the 2nd edition of Practical Electronics for Inventors (Paperback)·by Paul Scherz·is finally in print, and at a substantial discount.

The 1st edition was a very good introduction in spite of its numerous typos and mistakes (which were mostly easy to spot by the careful reader). The 2nd edition is thicker but I haven't gotten into it very far so I can't really comment on the content yet.
For the price, I think it's a good (hobbyist / beginner's easier) complement to Parallax many free texts, and /·or prelude to Horowitz & Hill.
Treat yourself to a holiday gift.
