interfacing a large display to the stamp

I would like to get started on the stamp, but i want to make sure I can interface a large alphanumric display to the stamp. This will be a display in· an automobile. (using ultrasonic sensors.).
Has this been doen alraedy? And if so, what else do I need to purchase before starting this project. I ma about to order the "stamp works "
