Compass Module?

i am going to build a tracked robot with motors and the chassis will probably be made of aluminum... would the compass module work for this bot or would there be too much interference? How could i minimize interference? The compass would probably be mounted on a pan and tilt away and above the motors (which would be enclosed in the metal chassis). hmm... aluminum is not magnetic, and with the motors being enclosed... it should be ok, right?
