jw, i·am kind of new to this, but can you just connect the propeller chip directly to a serial port? or is there some kind of device nedded for that?

um, i understand that there is a usb attachment for that, but i'm looking for a way to just use a serial interface as i already have a usb to serial connecter(general use type) and just want to connect it to that

o wait nvm, i found it, i need a max3232 chip if i just want to connect it through serial, thanks for your help anyways

A MAX3232 with a transistor for reset, or three transistors (2N3904 and 2N3906) will work. Look in Schematics on the Propeller main page.

I've been using a 74HC14 hex inverter, and a couple of resistors -- it works, provided your serial cable is short I guess, haven't tried with a long cable. Mainly because we have a huge amount of leftover 74HC14s around....
