determine if an external switch is open or closed

Hi, I'm using the BS2 in a simple alarm setup with a motion detector. The motion detector does not share the same ground as the BS2. The motion detector provides two wires on its output which are OPEN when there is no detection, and CLOSED when there is detection. How can I use the stamp to determine is there is continuity between the two wires (CLOSED)?
