Smallest LCD

I am trying to find a small serial LCD with at least 5 characters (alphanumeric, not just digits).
Small for me means about 1 cm x 3 cm, or less.
Anyone·knows anything similar to·such a small serial·LCD ?

NKK Switches makes a programmable pushbutton switch with a backlit LCD display. You can read about their newest compact version here. DigiKey used to carry them, but they seemed quite expensive. I see NKK's site has a shopping cart, so you can probably buy them direct.
