1wire interfacing

Trying to get the DS2760 thermocupler kit to register using the OW-searchDemo, but having no luck. Is there a trick to the connection? Right now I am just going straight in with a 1k. The kit has a pullup on it. The wire is sitting at close to 5.
The OW-Demo1(Demo for a DS1822 temp sense) shows activity on the scope when programmed.
The OW-Searchdemo shows no activity at all. The OW-Demo1 shows on the screen:
DS1822
***.* C ***.*F
If I pull the wires prior to F10, there is nothing on the display.
If I connect the wires after F10, then the "DS1822 etc" info appears as if it were connected all along.
Obviously this isn't an 1822 for the Demo1, but for the SeachDemo, shouldn't the 1wire IC be recognized?
If anyone is familiar with the Demo, would this be a simple mod to get it to get the temps from the DS2760?
