It's a school project, you post your ideas and we'll provide feedback.

Start by looking in Process Control and RObotics texts from Parallax.

Look at the DS160 to read the temperature. Solid state relays to turn on the lights and fans. DS1302 timekeeping chip if you have to use real time to control events. All of these are explained in detail on the parallax.com web site.

Could you post the extact requirements for your project? What course are you taking?

    Thank you and Good Luck

    Adam,

An eight year old did something similar http://www.selmaware.com/stampplot/users/roof_temp_project_files/roof_temp_project.htm. Look at our Process Control text for ideas on heating and fan control. These two resources are all you need to get started, in addition to some hardware. At this point it's all up to you to show us what you've done and ask questions for feedback.

    Just one tip...

Don't activate/deactivate fans or heaters immediately when the temperature goes out of range.

Nothing is more annoying than a fan that goes off for a second, every bl@@dy ten seconds...
