You guys who are hacking up video extensions to the SX might be interested in this:

http://www.circuitcellar.com/library/print/1106/Momontov-196/index.htm·Uses a fast processor from Phillips. Nothing we can't do right?

http://www.circuitcellar.com/library/print/1106/Momontov-196/p1a_b.htm·Shows his final result: Nice front panel, nice "virtual" low frequency o-scope on an NTSC TV.

The SX has been used for the sample part before:

And of course for video generation many times:
http://www.sxlist.com/techref/ubicom/lib/io/dev/video/index.htm·(you guys should add some links to that page... remember, sxlist.com is a wiki/blog)

Anyway, I'll bet bean will have a 75Mhz DSO design out next week... smilewinkgrin.gif

    Forgot to mention:

http://www.piclist.com/techref/microchip/fft/picspect.htm ·PIC'Spectrum: A spectrum analyser with bit banged video display. Done with a PIC.

You know... If you turn the TV on its side, and each O-Scope value is loaded, at the start of each video line, into a count down timer which then produces a "blip" of white video when it expires...

Then you just normalize all your samples into 262 points or two sets of 262 (even then odd). So if you capture 4096 points in ram you can see the parts of that in a 262 or 524 point window with the starting point controlled by the horizontal offset control. If you capture at 75Mhz, or 1Hz, the display is the same: Really simple.

    James,
    · I have a video circuit that uses the SX48 and a 32K SRAM. That would be pretty easy to add an ADC and make a TV oscope. But it would have to alternate between "signal capture" and "display" modes. That probably wouldn't look too nice.

    Bean.
