    Greetings Mr. Richard,

You might want to check out our Stamps in Class books and kits, which are widely used by high schools, community colleges and tech programs.· They are written in a step-by-step fashion to introduce electronics and microcontroller programming together using a BASIC Stamp 2.· The main entry level book is "What's a Micrcontroller?" with basic electronics, or you can start with "Robotics with the Boe-Bot"·to build and program an autonomous robot with 3 types of sensors.·After completing either one of these books there are other titles that use the same programming board with additional components kits, so you can go further into robotics, or industrial process control, or environmental sensors, basic analog and digital, etc.· There are lots of hardware add-ons for the Boe-Bot as well, such as a rotating ultrasonic distance sensor, line sensors, wheel encoders, gripper arms, crawler legs, tank treads, etc.

The books are available as free downloads at the bottom of these product pages, so you can review them completely before deciding if they are right for you.

There are lots of extra Stamps in Class - style projects that the author has posted online in the Stamps in Class forum, including using the Boe-Bot with a variety of sensors:

I hope this gives you some ideas.
