animatronic head

My mechnical skills are horrible.

I want to begin an animatronic head. I am really interested in the motion of the eyes. Can anyone suggest some information to get the motion working properly? I would like for the eyes to have a near full range of moiton. I can imagine it working with two servos, but not one.

thanks so much

The mechanics are very important. You need to have the eyes mounted in sockets that allow movement from side to side and up and down. Unless it's important to be able to have the eyes come together in the center, you could make a yoke connecting the back of the two eyes using some piano wire or push rods with a point to connect a servo horn for side to side movement. You may be able to make the yoke so it can also move up and down so the eyes move down and up together and control that with a second servo. There are lots of ways to do this. It mostly depends on your mechanical and design skills. If you have access to a puppetry school or institution that does puppetry, you may be able to get some practical suggestions and examples.

2d677bc0.jpg·http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=blinking80&width=320·This is video of the eye movement. Here is a link to the whole thread. I have been watching this thread for a long time. I wish this guy would quite his job and finish this project. He is going to be selling a CD showing the whole process. I hope it's reasonably priced. http://www.botmag.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189
