This is absolutlely amazing:

Watch the video in the water.

This one uses a processor per segement and they are sort of networked, I would have thought the propeller could do the whole lot. That would be seriously amazing. My interest is in micro stuff so it would have to be micro servos, I've heard of those down to silly prices.

Wow!!! freaked.gif For sure not a 'hobbyist' effort. Lots of shekels in such a project.

Amazing to see the swimming video. Now, if it could come out of the water on it's own. Interesting how many different robots the Japanese have funded. Glad to see so many into it, whether hobby or not.

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't posted the link.

Would anyone like me to post it to them on 3.5" floppies?

It looks like it has a camera. There's a ring of LEDs in front, surrounding what looks like a lens.

    Your right it does.

I'm wondering what the radio range is underwater.

I wondered about that, too. Maybe they just record the video for later playback.

I suspect it was not operating autonomously in the video and was backed away by the user. It is definatly a camera.

Another video here, shows the joint mechanisms, the camera and the mechanism to keep the camera level (I think)

    Another video

FYI - a radio controlled submarine that I saw in a hobby store about 2 years ago has a limit of 10 ft. The cheap subs only have a depth equal to the depth of the antenna.

That's still better than I expected. The video however is an interesting one, we can only assume its not 2.4Ghz or the poor thing would be cooked alive.
