Basic Stamp, HB-25 bridges and Zagros DC motors

Hi, I have long been planning to start a robotics project, very similar to the http://oap.sourceforge.net and use a couple of Zagros Robotics motors with encoders like these: https://www.zagrosrobotics.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=650
I saw that Parallax seems to have an excellent H-Bridge and DC motor controller in one package. And·with the simple interfacing to the Basic Stamp processor it seems like a nice basis for the motor and sensory control of the robot (although some USB based devices will be used also).
I wonder, if the HB-25 will be able to drive this motor·- I assume so because the specs are 25A and the motor seems to stall·with a·6A current.
Also I see that there is a very small BS package on a USB stick that might be used as a controller for both the motor and a sonar array. Will the small USB version be enough? Only one pin is needed to drive two motors and I assume I need one pin from each encoder. Maybe its possible to use only a few pins to read a sonar array also? (minimum 6 PING style of·sonars). Also I assume the BS1 package is good enough for the sonars? Will the power be drawn from the USB port, and is it enough to drive many sonars?
Any recommendation would be nice to have.
