Can Excel vb talk to a parallax board?

Can I communitate with a Basic Stamp board using software other than what Parallax provides? For example, can I use the vb interface in MS Excel to send commands out to the microprocessor? If so, how?

Here is an application that uses Visual Basic 4.0 to talk to a Basic StampII. I'm not sure about using the vb interface in MS Excel.

Read further down in this link for the VB code. It starts out with a Quick Basic 4.5 example. The Stamp code should be the same
between both the VB and the QB4.5 versions.

matt, Microsoft offer Visual Studio 2005 Express edition for free on their web site. Part of Visual Studio is Visual Basic with which you can interface serially to a BasicStamp via a Pc com port. There are many examples and walkthroughs to help you get started and it is possible to make some very nice graphical apps. that send or recieve information from a Stamp. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vb/download/default.aspx
