No BASIC Stamps found error message

Hello,

Just bought a Basic Stamp 1 kit, and am unable to detect the BS1. In the Basic Stamp editor 2.2 I get the "No BASIC Stamps found" pop-up after hitting "Run". My serial connection is good because I tested it connecting to another PC. I have a 9v battery connected and the led lit, and I setup the three basic params in the editor:

' {$STAMP BS1}
' {$PBASIC 1.0}
' {$PORT COM2}

The Stamp's plugged in correct too; vin pin connected to vin socket.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

    What happens when you press the "ID" button in the editior?

    Thanks for the response. When I do ctl-I or Identify, I get "Echo" No, and "Loopback" Yes. Nothing in "Device Type" or "Version" shows up although.

    If you have the "BASIC Stamp 1 Starter Kit" http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=27205·are you using the adaptor circuit board (the little thing with a serial port on it at one end and the small black pin connector at the other) to connect to your PC, and not the "super carrier board's" onboard serial port directly?

    Nick,

    Thanks for the reply. I found that they never shipped the serial adapter with my kit, and I was trying to use the onboard 9pin serial. Works now!

    Thanks,
    Jim
