Stamp-->PC communication problem (Not Basic Stamp Editor)

Hi!
I need my Stamp to talk to Qbasic (eventually). The problem is, it won't even talk to a serial terminal. When I program it to send (whatever) to the PC, the debug window set to the appropriate COM port and baud mode sees the data, but neither the terminal program nor QBasic will see anything. I'm using Realterm and and a small·QBasic program·that just prints recieved data to the screen.
Is there anything stupid that I could have just·overlooked, or is there a bigger problem (This doesn't work on multiple PC's and different Stamps don't work either). I do close the Editor when trying to use Realterm or QB to avoid open port probs, but it doesn't make a difference.

I did some work ages ago before I started working for Parallax with this. You need to be in control of the DTR line in the serial cable.
Check out this link under "StampII to QBASIC communication". hope this helps.
