how to modify the FastIrRoaming.bs2 program

I have never done any programming and would like to know how to modify the FastIrRoaming.bs2 program to detect a bumper contact that I have installed low on the front end of the Boe-Bot.· I have connected the bumper contact to the breadboard like the·whiskers.· ·I would like to to make it back up and turn when the bumper is depressed while the IR program is running.· The IR led's can't be lowered to detect and avoid obstacles about an inch high without adversely affecting normal fastIR navigation.·
