lcd screen from calculator help

ok you know if you take a calculator apart and the lcd screen
well i was thinking i could make a calculator or make numbers come up on the screen using the basic stamp

the lcd screen has 28 or somthing like that wires on a strip

any one know what i could do with that??
please help!

    Nope. This isn't "Macgyver", you know.

    An LCD screen's only like $15, and that's with full documentation. Without documentation, it's pretty hard to put stuff together right.

    ·· That type of display is called a "field-effect" display, and requires a special driver chip.· You're better off buying an inexpensive Serial or Parallel LCD Display.· Take care.

    It was mentioned in these threads that LCD displays could be purchased for $15 with documentaion. From Whom?
