Show me the WAY! Question on LCD

I found this LCD(1cm by 1cm(yea, it's small)). I have absolutly no background on how LCD's are controlled or how to control them. Anyway. I was wondering if one of you could help me with the control of this LCD I found. I drew up a schematic(Not really a schematic but a crappy picture). Could one of yall "show me the way"?

With the schematic:
THe lcd has 15 wires coming from it
The board the LCD is connected to, does not contain electronics. It just translated the 15 wires into two pads with 1 set of seven wires and 1 set of 8 wires. The LED + and LED - pads are not connected.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a datasheet ? Or a link to the datasheet ? Or a model # ?
With more info, we're pretty much just guessing.

I suspect that the LCD is "bare" (does not have the drive circuit). That means you will have to supply an AC voltage to drive the LCD segments.

How would i check if it was "bare"? I can't find a schematic on the internet. How would i test the lcd with out damaging it?(I just killed my car's dash by shorting it. I would like to not do the same with the lcd)
