Current requirements running Emic and BS2

I just received the Emic Text Module from Parrallax, Just wonder if running an 8 ohm speaker and stamp is current over 1 amp! Seems to be draining my power supply when I run it.

    ·· If the Emic/Stamp combination is drawing over 1A then you have a short somewhere.· The BASIC Stamp 2 uses a mere 3 mA and the Emic wouldn't be over 200 mA (although I don't have an exact measurement handy).

    Thanks Chris,
    It seems to work fine for a while then the voltage starts to dump and then shut down.....Any Ideas?
    I do not think I have a short anywhere just the basic hook up and speaker

    Chris,

    I unhooked everything and just left the Emic powered.....Voltage held, put stamp back in no connections, started draining voltage....OOOPs looks like the sx is going!!
