It's seem P1 of Basic Stamp 2sx have a problem ?

I use a basic stamp for a while. In my experience when program and erase many many time (I think less than 1,000 times) the P1 (pin 11) is out of service. If·I using for a while it's entirely out of service.

I have found 2 of mine basic stamp 2sx having this problem. Is anyone have this problem.


I have a little question :

1. Why It's happend, and how can I avoid that ?
2. I wonder how exact time for program and re-program the basic stamp 2sx. In the manual they said 100,000 times but I quite sure I·havn't reach that number.

P1 (pin 11) has nothing to do with the EEPROM, so the problem can't be connected to that.

It depends a lot on what hardware you have attached to P1. Is it perhaps the coil of a relay? And do you have a 'flyback' diode on that coil? Because if you do not, eventually the continued stress on the BS2 I/O drivers will burn them out.
