My BS2 BOE has become unusable

I've had my BS2 BOE for a few weeks and have had a lot of fun playing with it until today.
I have the model with the USB connector NOT the serial connector. When it is attached to my computer and turned on, the mouse on the computer gets all screwy like it is attached to the upper right corner of the computer screen by a bungee cord.
If I leave everything connected and just shut off the BOE the mouse returns to normal, turn the BOE back on and back to the bungee cord effect. I have tried this on my laptop, desktop and a school computer, the results are exactly the same with each computer. I've changed the battery and tried a different usb cable, no help.
I've got 3 BS2 projects due on Wednesday for my embedded systems class.
If I can't get some help here,·me =
