Dual Video Text Inserter

· Hello all,

·· Here are few pics of a recent project.

·· It uses a BS2sx to read serial data from a truck weigh scale and superimposes the weight on two separate
video monitors. The application is an automated weigh-scale where the video can be used to resolve disputes
over weight or procedure.

·· The inserter modules are from Intuitive Circuits and are controlled serially by the Stamp. Several modes of operation allow
color and transparency of the text to be varied. Also, the text size can be changed.

· Besides the usual overlaying of text onto a video signal, the system can also function without the camera by having
the inserter generate a solid-color background. This allows a simple way to generate a screen to display lots of text or
variables in a convenient package.

· External switches allow the selection of either RUN or SETUP modes. During setup, the screen defaults to show the
·incoming baudrate. A second switch allows the locating of the displayed weight anywhere on the screen. The position
·is stored in eeprom for use the next time the system starts.

· The pics show the outside of the enclosure, the inside with· the BS2sx/Carrier board and the two Intuitive Circuits
boards. The two B+W screen shots show the display in different positions on the screen. Sorry I ddidn't get a shot with
the camera attached!·· The Stamp watches the serial string from the scale indicator and can automatically switch
·between pounds and kilograms besides pulling out the 6 digit weight.

This is a very nice project·
I like the fact that you have it on TV screen·that can be seen from far away···· ··idea.gif
I also like the way you set up the box that houses your project······················ ··idea.gif

How long did you work on this project···

    Thanks for the interest.

This project took about a total of a 1 day to build and program. Half a day was to build the box and half a day to program and test.

This was a bit easier than normal because I already was familiar with the data strings coming in from the scale equipment. Also, I tend to
standardize on the components in my projects, so building them doesn't require too much head-scratching.

    Regards,

Bean (on these forums) sells an over lay module that would work very well with what you are doing. I believe that it is www.sxvm.com·· Look towards the bottom

    altitude,

I knew the Bean solution was coming along but this application had to be compatible with the customer's existing units and spare parts.

    Thanks for the interest.
