Hello,
I just received my demo board and the identify hardware option in
the prop tool does not recoginize the board.· It checks comm 1 and
9 - (about) 20.
I appreciate the extra features over my BS2 but I must confess the
literature on set-up is sparce ( none, that I can find ).· The demo
board for my Basic Stamp was very well done and I am a little
disapointed in the nature of this kit ( with repect to mundane
technical stuff like hooking it up, demo circuits with code, that
kinda stuff ).· But alas, I will now climb down from the soap box.
I am sure that once I get these little issues straightened out, it
will be "all that and a bag of chips", so to speak.· Anyway, anyone
have any thoughts how I can get started down the runway?
Still hand-propping my propeller....

Rich,
·Did you have a chance to load your FTDI USB Virtual Com Port (VCP) Drivers to your computer.
·They should be included with your kit.

The demo kit shipped without-out any software.

You can acsess the FTDI drivers at the parallax web site.·Go to the site, then select Downloads, then select FTDI Drivers. Chose the drivers for your operating system. Load them into your computer and follow the on-screen instructions. This should get you up and running with your demo board. I am assuming that you have loaded the Propeller Tool v0.98.1 editor?

I'm not sure exactly what I did ( for the most part ) but it is now alive.
I am embarrised to disclose the major problem, but it may actually
help some-one else.
I had my kids over and my daughter spilled some popcorn on the floor
under my computer desk ( bear with me ), so I had to move my CPU
to clean it up.· When I slid it, it pulled the USB cable from the hub.
Apparently 3 to 5 volts will not cross an air gap of 6 inches.· You get
the picture.· After that revelation, it was a somewhat straight-forward
install.
Onward propeller soldiers...
No longer hand-propping my propeller,
Richard
Thanks for your help Rob!
