BS2PX problem or operator error?

I've been using the BS2 and BS2e on several applications. I recently purchased a BS2px to see if there was any speed advantage for my particular use.
I am having a very difficult time with the editor identifying the BS2px and downloading programs.
Here's a typical sequence of things I do to download a program (using BOE, USB Rev B):

1) Select identify. Results: Device, Type and Version are blank. Loop and Echo show 'Yes' (using IBM thinkpad)
2) I switch computers to a Dell XPS desktop. Now when I select identify, the result is "Basic Stamp 2px24", v.10, etc.
3) I try to download the program and get "Hardware communication failure"
4) I try again and get "EEPROM verify failure"
5) I then place the Stamp into my applications board with a serial port and I'm able to identify the stamp and download the program (I'm still using the Dell XPS).
I'm able to do this several times, but then I end up back at #1 again.
6) Rebooting the computer sometimes helps, sometimes not.
7) Generating object code and downloading with Stamploader.exe sometimes helps, sometimes not.

Any thoughts/ideas? Other than this one problem, I love Parallax products.

Dan

What version of the editor are you using?· What type of power supply are you using?

Thanks for the quick response, Dave.

I'm using the 2.2.6 version of the editor.

When I'm using the BOE, it's powered with a 9V battery.
When I'm using my application board, it's powered from a Circuit Specialists CSI5003X5 at 12.5 volts regulated down to 5V with a 78M05CT.

    Regards,

I don't recommend using a 9v battery with the BS2px due to the fact it consumes 55mA on the run, please use your 12.5v supply and then verify that you are getting a clean 5v on Vdd to Vss.· Regarding your USB Board of Education, you 'll need to go into your "Control Panel" and click on "Systems" and then "Hardware" and then "Device Manager" and scroll down to "Ports" and find your "USB to com" port and then click on it.· You'll see a "port settings" tab, click on it and then click on the "Advanced" button and change the "Latency timer" to 1 and hopefully this will solve this issue.

Dave, I think that fixed it!
The program downloads ... and I'm now getting similar results as the BS2e (I hadn't mentioned in my original post that the bs2px results were totally unbelievable).
I'll be working with it throughout the day. If I have any re-occuring problems, I'll let you know.
    Thanks a bunch!
