Small Plastic Box

Folks -

I have a small piece of PC test equipment that needs a "home". I'd like to put it in a small, flat box with some sort of snap-lock. Plastic is okay IF I have additional room (over and above the basic dimensions) for a piece of anti-static foam.

Essentially what I'm thinking about is like a "tin" of aspirin, but a bit larger. Clear would be great, but I can always label it if need be.

Here are the overall dimensions:

3.5" wide X 2.5" high X .50" deep

TIA

Regards,

Bruce Bates

If metal is ok, there's a line of caffeinated mints, brand name Penguin, that come in a nice snap tin about 3 5/8 x 2 3/8 x 3/4 inch. The caffeine would help you stay up to finish the project.

...or Altoids (they're metal boxed, too.)

    PJ -

Funny, I thought I tried an Altoids tin, but it was an older one. may have to buy some new and check it out.

    Thanks guys!

An old VHSC tape box makes a nice "project box"·unfortunately the height is only 2.375. (3.75 x 2.375 x .25). They are especially nice if you like to admire your artwork occasionally :-)

    I am using a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 3/4" clear plastic [polyethyilene] box for my Propeller Demo board.
    Would that be acceptible.

I am wondering why the antistatic foam?

I buy them in the Parts Box area of my local electronics supplier. It has real hinges and a snap lock.

    Hi George -

Yup, that would do it. The anti-static foam is because the device has a number of CMOS parts on it. The box is just for storage, when I'm not using it.

So... do you want to come to Taiwan or ....... ?

As I recall they are $50NT or about $1.80USD.

It was my impression that the antistatic foam was needed for loose parts.
And once in a circuit, the static hazard is supposed to be significantly reduced.

I have my Propeller just mounted to the lid with double adhesive tape.
When I open it, I have access to all the plugs, etc.
When it is closed, it doesn't rattle around.

    Bruce,

Check Flambeau and Plano, too. I'm a real plastic box nut.

Got 'em all over my shop!
