I am curous to know why, when you change the device· OSCXT2 to OSC4MHZ, the program does not run as expected, the IR part does not work. Is their a problem with the pulsin command when it is run at the OSC4MHZ setting? It seems to me that I did not have this problem before, although I could be mistaken. I am using the example program that is listed in the SX/B example projects.

Thanks

Ray

    Ray,
    · The internal oscillator is not accurate enough for timing such things. SERIN and SEROUT won't work correctly either when using the internal oscillator. It is about +/- 8% so it can vary quite a bit. An even if you use IRC_CAL it it very unreliable.

I guess I need some more detail. When I ran the above program, I was running it with the SX-key installed, so technically it should be running the oscillator on the sx-key, correct? So, what you are saying is that if you use DEVICE OSC4MHZ, and use it with the SX-key installed, the SXxx internal oscillator conditions are simulated. It seems to me that SXxx should have a much more accurate internal oscillator.

    Thanks

    Ray,
I'll have to check, but I think if you are DEBUGGING, then the SX-Key will provide the clock "even if you specify OSC4MHZ", but if you just RUN from the IDE, then I think the internal oscillator is used. If I get time today I will verify that.

    Ray,
I have confirmed with a frequency counter, that when you are debugging, the SX-Key generates the clock, even if you specify OSC4MHZ on the device line.
