What is a good pcb mount earthquake sensor

Anybody got any ideas on a low cost vibration detector ic with an adjustable threshold capability? If so, is there an object already in existence? Thanks

The Hitachi accelerometer discussed in this forum (http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=601221) may be a good candidate. Also worth considering is the less expensive Memsic unit: www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28017.

Great, Thanks Phil. After reading through the documentation, I don't see anything that suggests that the ic needs to be positioned in any particular way. I will be mounting it vertically, I hope that is not an issue.
