Does Parallax offer a beginner's course on programming and BS and propeller, etc. I'm not a computer geek and not familiar with microprocessors and servos. Well, a bit familiar but not much.

Well you can download all their books from parallax.com, also you should prabably buy Whats a Microcontroller? book from radioshack or the online store, they do not offer an actual class that im aware of though.

The "Whats a Microcontroller?" is a terrific place to start. Everything is in the book and a teacher to give a lecture is not really needed if you don't need "credit" for your work.

Here are some kits for you to consider:

    1. Basic Stamp Activity Kit: www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=90005
    2. Basic Stamp Discovery Kit: www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=27207
    3. Boe-Bot Full Kit: www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28132

    Other considerations:
#1 is the least economical way to get started
#1 & #2 have the same curriculum, the difference is in the board & stamp module
    #2 & #3 are more expandable than #1
#3 is slightly more advanced than the other 2
#2 & #3 come in a serial or USB version; the serial version is probably a bit more flexible/expandable than the USB version

If your budget allows for any of these kits, my suggestion would be #3, the Boe-Bot. The reason being is that the Boe-Bot is a little more "interactive" in the long run. You can still download the book for the other kits to fill in any of the theory that isn't covered in the Boe-Bot manual. The parts kits are close enough to do many of the experiments.
