BS2SX Maximum Speed for serial communications

I want to built a dmx512 (lighting control) interface.

Getting RS-485 levels is no problem, there are several chips available that will handle that, but I am wondering if the Stamp is fast enough.

DMX is RS-485 and runs at 250,000 bps.

Will the BS2SX (or any stamp) be quick enough to handle this, or do I need more horsepower like the SX micro or Propellor ?

For ease of development I would prefer not to use assembly if at all possible, but any other high level language is fine.

Thanks

I think DMX was discussed in the Propeller forum a while ago....

Thanks for that. It appears that he only used one cog (processor ?) on the propeller chip.

How does the Stamp or SX chip compare to a single processor on the propeller speed ways ??

If the stamp is the same or faster, then this should be doable on a stamp.

    Hello,

·· The Propeller can do over 400Kbps in one COG serially...However the BASIC Stamp wouldn't be able to reach the 250Kbps required for DMX.· I am unsure if anyone has attempted this with an SX or not.· You could post that question in the SX Forum or check SXLIST.COM for any VP that handles high-speed serial.
