call the basic stamp telephone

i want to be able to do this:· call home and have the basic stamp BS2SX pick up the phone.· after the stamp picks up the phone ill be able to hit buttons to have it trigger x-10 stuff (like turn on/off my window air conditioner)· i can do most of it....but how do i interface the stamp to the phone and have it "listen" for DTMF tones after it picks up the call?

mostly i need to know what hardware would allow the interface.

or do i need to build that stamp to phone line interface in the stamp owners manual?

I don't think that is the device you want. Take a look at your second option or get a cheap standalone modem and hack it to do what you want.

A stamp and any old modem should work (modems are also already allowed to be connected to the phone lines)....then you'd need the X10 stuff.
