Is the Sensirion an industrial sensor or a hobby sensor only?

Hi,
I need to use the Sensirion Temperature/Humidity Sensor with a basic stamp.
I have done some test and the sensirion works very fine but I need
to measure temperature ( about 28º Celcius and 75%) for a year, inside
a room but I think that humidity could damage the Sensirion sensor.
Of course the basic stamp will be out the room and the Sensirion sensor will
be at about 2 meters ( 6 feet)
Is the Sensirion an industrial sensor or a hobby sensor only?
If it si for hobbyonly , what can I do for use it?
Thanks, Joe

Their primary market is for commercial and industrial use. The fact that it's available to hobby consumers is only because we've made it that way - Sensirion won't even consider small orders.
The question you ask pertains to the SHT1x datasheet. If the datasheet doesn't make this very clear, we'll need to rely on some of the humidity experts on this discussion forum who have field experience with the sensor. Without a doubt, Dr. Tracy Allen is one of them so I hope he responds. He'll certainly have suggestions about how to package up the Sensirion sensor to make it last a long time in a hostile environment since he makes environmental dataloggers. I'd check www.emesystems.com in the meantime to see if he provides any related information on his web site.

I read the SHT1x datasheet (shtx.pdf )
But I don't know if the Sensirion sensor could work
for a year at about 28º Celcius and 75% Humidity.
And about the humidity: Could 80% humidity damage the circuit ?.
A short circuit could damage the mounting with the pots that Parallax
has made to connect the SHT1x to a Basic Stamp.
Ken: Do you know if Dr. Tracy Allen could read this?
Here is the shtx.pdf
