Whisker sensors adjustment

When roaming with whiskers my Boe-Bot would somtimes backup at an angle pressing the whisker forward and eventually pulling the whisker off. The solution I found for this was to place the whiskers in between the contact pins instead of in front of them, it took a few minutes to center them between the pins leaving a smaller gap but it worked perfectly and make them more sensitive and secure. Check out this diagram for a closer look.

I had the same problem and also came up with the same solution.
Another problem I had was that the whiskers were too high up to detect low-laying obstacles.
As a primitive but easy solution, I replaced the tall stand-off's with short ones.

Very nice.· When the Whiskers were redesigned, the guy who did it intended them to be used this way.· The extra diagram and instructions didn't make it into Robotics with the Boe-Bot v2.2 before the publication deadline.··It is on our revisions list, which is fortunately still very short.
