I've used the PakVI in a project and it works great...makes interfacing a PS/2 or AT keyboard really easy because the PakVI takes care of converting the keyboard codes (which are NOT ASCII) to ASCII so all you have to worry about is the code to read in the serial data. The example program in the manual (available for download at the URL in PJ's post) is really simple and takes care of business nicely.

The PakVI does the job, but you could use a Propeller chip and have a lot more.
