Video of the running dog robot?

Hey there,

Tried to Google this with no luck, but I'm sure somebody can help me.

I'm presenting a bunch of robots to elementary school kids tomorrow, and of course I need to take some "cool videos" of some of the crazier robots out there.

A while back I saw a video of this man-sized, four-legged running robot. I think it was even carrying a military backpack. Seen it before? Anybody know where I can find this video?

If the former, I would guess that would be the quadraped built by MIT and described in "Legged Robots that Balance". That video may still be on an MIT website, but this came up a year ago or so in a different venue and it's apparently fairly hard to find. If I remember correctly, the video I saw had a guy running alongside it, probably to keep it from falling over when the balancing algorithm failed.

    Wow, that was fast! Not the robot I mentioned, as this one has more anthropomorphic legs.

    To find it trough the google write BIGDOG and search for images... the link to it should help you out

    That is freaky! The movement is so lifelike, at first I thought at first it was 2 guys in a robot costume.

    Ahhh, the mud, the snow, the puddles of water! It reminds me again why I moved from Cambridge to California.

    Years ago, MIT also had videos of one-legged robots hopping in place - nowhere near as sophisticated as this 4-legged beast but almost as entertaining to watch.

    BigDog has a high center of gravity. Can it get up if it falls down?

    ·· That MIT monoped was part of a series of robots that they built, the quadraped was the last discussed in the book "Legged Robots that Balance". It turns out that it was actually easier to program the monoped than the quadraped, although they mention the software for it was the basis for all the series. I've seen videos for the monoped and quadraped, but not the biped (which I was most interested in).
