Controlling Stamp with Handheld
I'm a newbie at this, but I'm wondering if it is common for people to use a handheld like a PocketPC with a USB connection to drive a BASIC stamp? Operation would be similar to a MacMini running a Stamp but would be much smaller power footprint and weight.
Are people doing this? If not, is there a reason?
thanks,
Chad

It depends on what you mean by "running". The typical PocketPC has serial capabilities, so it can be used to send and receive data to/from a running Stamp without too much of a headache (in the "standard" serial realm...USB is another playground entirely). If you are wanting to program the Stamp from the PocketPC, the the answer is "'fraid not". The programming protocol is very timing specific and very much "intellectual property". Curently it is handled in the PC, Mac, and Linux worlds as a Parallax-supplied free "library" that can be called which handles all of the bit-twiddling needed to program the Stamp. No such library exists for the PocketPC (nor is any in the works, as far as I know).
I hope this answered your question.
