No love from IR Buddy

I'm trying out my IR Buddy, but it's not recognizing any codes from my remotes. The IRB Loopback (v2.5).BS2 program works fine and the test passes, so that would suggest that I have it hooked up correctly. When I run IRB RC-5 Monitor (v.25).BS2, all I get is "254 (End of buffer)". I'm using my universal remote that has 12 sets of Sony codes, but none of them work. I've tried a few other remotes including the one that came with my Toshiba DVD, but no luck. Is there something I'm missing?

    Ssteve,

I haven't looked at the IR Buddy documentation for quite some time, but as I recall it only reads the Phillips TV codes. Have you seen anything like this in the documentation? I'd take a look but I'm nearing quitting time, but since I thought this might be part of the solution I replied to your message.

9pm on Sunday is quitting time? I'm glad I don't have your job. smile.gif

I'll take a closer look through the docs and try Phillips TV codes on my remote and let you know what happens.

    P.S.
Actually, I imagine working for Parallax would be an awesome job.

Thanks, Ken. Philips TV codes were the answer. It also responds to some Philips DVD codes, just not the ones that go with my DVD player. I don't know where I got the idea that I needed to use Sony TV codes.

    Steve,

Excellent. Problem solved. I remember that when we developed the documentation we used a universal programmable remote control with the Phillips codes. The reason you are thinking about Sony codes is that our "Infrared Remote Control with the Boe-Bot" book (and most of our infrared resources) all use the Sony TV codes.

Working for Parallax? I think those who like it the most have some pretty big overlap between personal hobby and work, which includes me, but I think that others just appreciate the autonomy, quality customers and environment of a small company.
