connecting the basic stamp

Hi,

I am buying a "BASIC Stamp Project Board" with a serial port on it...I've a question.....Can I just plug it behind my computer or do I have to buy a programming cable.

    While technically feasible, probably the other ports and cables on the back of your PC will get in the way.

    You'll need a "straight-through" serial cable, male on one end, female on the other. If you can scrounge the two 9-pin connectors, a few feet of wire is the only other thing you'll need...other than soldering it together.
