I found this great (maybe) device at allelectronics and i want to use it with my sx48 project.· it outputs a varied voltage depending on the temp.· do i need to use an A/D or is there a way to do it with the chip itself?

Save yourself alot of headaches and just use a digital temperature sensor.

You certainly can use an analog to digital converter to read the LM34. And if you need an A/D for other things that might make alot of sense. You can also use an Op-Amp to amplify the LM34 to get really good precision over a narrow temperature range.
