Circular Reference Error

I received a circular reference error during compilation (F10) of a .spin file. After receiving the error I tried compiling a second time however I received an "Unable to connect to Propeller on COM1" error (or something to that effect). It now appears dead in the water.

My propeller is housed on a solderless home demo-board with a USB2SER device for communication. There are no other devices connected to the input/output pins. I was strictly developing .spin code.

Any ideas?
